THE DELIGHTS AND PERILS OF ONLINE DATING

Yes, with the internet and the connectivity, we could finally find an answer to the perennial question – “When will I ever find my true love?” It may seem interesting for a normal person in search of a soul mate, but it does have many risks and uncertainties on its back. For a five minute read, find out the most important online dating pros and cons.

Online dating delight number one. Men, women, and complicated genders of all ages could literally specify the qualities they like for a lover. Do they want a male, a female, or someone who doesn’t smoke? This kind of person could be found in one tick of a box. But lo and behold, for here also lies online dating peril number one. Amidst the convenience of finding the perfect match in one check, one could never be completely sure that the ticked boxes ultimately represent the person hiding behind hot_chic24. For all we know, this hot chick number 24 could be a swindler for a black market at Iraq, 2006-present. Tip: Be on the lookout for someone who is too good to be true. Remember, those kinds of people will not need an online dating site to find a date.

Internet dating delight number two. Everyone is pretty sure that each member of an online dating site is well, looking for a date. It’s like gazing upon an open aquarium of untamed fishes. It’s good to know that a hundred-fold of other people are also desperate to find a partner, a lover, or a fling. For sensitive people, internet dating peril number two could be such that not every person available in an online dating site is serious. Some of them only want phone sex, IM sex, or even a one night stand. There is no need to rush anything. Take some time to know who the person really is, and of course, don’t forget to dive into his real motives.
Online dating delight number three. Finding dates across border and time is fantastic! No one is limited to one’s zip code anymore. If one wants a date from California, one gets a date from California. New Zealand? China? Australia? Yes sir, the internet got that covered. It’s as easy as one two three, the net guarantees, you’ll get your lover from me. The peril here is that by being really, really honest on your state address, you could never be too sure that you are safe come midnight. Some find it interesting to spy, to harass, and to interfere with the private lives of the people they met online. So be careful.

The internet answered YES to the never ending inquiry of finding a true love. It is indeed possible online, noted that it is the right time and the right person. And the next question should be – “Given its delights and perils, should I try online dating?” Of course you should! Unless married or committed, you deserve to have some fun once in a while.

My media

I temporarily found my place in the professional era, the Kung Kaya Mo, Kaya Natin Ito Productions. The first few days were brilliant! I got to go out and meet people from the media. But then they appointed me as a news writer/copywriter. I thought, hey, this could be a good thing! But then, I couldn't get out anymore. I stayed at the office the whole day. I was prepared to sacrifice anyway since this is a news team, this is where I wanted.

We recently had a meeting with the big boss. He reprimanded a colleague of mine because she was asking the wrong questions to the interviewees. It seems like she was suppose to ask the same questions to every single person she will interview. On her desire to veer away, she consulted the boss. He told her, "Wag mo masyadong dibdibin yang media ID mo. Front mo lang yan para makapasok sa Government Agencies." It shot me like lighting. What the hell?

So yeah, we are not an official news team. However, I wasn't bothered much since I get to write feature stories about government officials. But days passed by and I realized I wasn't writing relevant and timely topics anymore. I was writing proposals, segments, invitation letters, and website copies. I am doing the website copy for almost three days and it is starting to piss me off because this isn't part of my job description as a radio reporter/media assistant - not at all.

So if you're wondering, what's this company really... It is a man-power agency that uses media as a marketing strategy. Yes, we are a genuine production house. But boo y'all, we don't make our own questions -- they are based on a template.

I'm bored. I want to resign and apply for a real news team. But it is still uncertain out there. Plus work hours here are so unjust. We're working for 13 hours straight without overtime fee!

i smiled a little bit more (from my i yebah blog, 2006)

As i sit here..
Waiting..
Playing d0zens and d0zens of my favorite s0ngs.
Here I am again
Trying t0 pour out everything
Just f0r the sense of Letting my heart breath..
Yes.. It can't s0metimes...
And i will have t0 pull myself over just to give it s0me air..
And if you may ask,
What is this I linger?
Wait for that cl0ck to start ticking faster
Until it reads ten thirty
Until this teleph0ne rings…
And then s0ftly hear the v0ice of that person who gave me the same reason to let my heart breath…
And Let it stop there..
Stop within the warmth of his sweet thoughts..
Stop so that he could steadily grip and hold on
For everyone to see..
Each twinkle and every flicker of these eyes
The sinuous sparks from my smile
That was carefully drawn by no other
And if I may be asked again,
What is this for?
This absurd elucidation of my feelings
Of course.
Simply but to brag about everything
he causes..
about everything
he gives..
about everything
he makes me feel
and I know,
I HAVE NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF
Or at least to be scared of
For I am loved.
And I am proud of it.

Faith is blind

"Faith is walking face first and full speed at dark"
-Elizabeth Gilbert, "Eat, Pray, Love"

Gilbert is right, you don't see them, you don't feel them, you don't even hear them yet you believe. What good would it give you to belive anyway? I always feel that there's hope for everything and that hope is harbored by faith. Without faith, how can you even hope?

It's wrong to say that love is blind for love always sees. It sees the differences and mends them, it sees the beauty and appreciates them. But faith could never see, nor hear, nor feel. Faith devoids you of all your rightful senses. But it utters you to believe.
